The 2025 edition of IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES AROUND THE WORLD: Formats and Trends, cover the five-year period from the start of the Covid pandemic to the present. The book analyzes 13 experiential formats, ranging from performing arts and immersive cinema to guided tours and immersive theater, including exhibitions, installations, pop-ups, events, projection mapping, infinity mirror rooms, tours, museums, and more. It comprises 750 pages and over 600 color images, corresponding to the selected formats and categorized into 14 themes. The book's unique feature lies in its analysis, theorization, and inclusion of tables that quantify the experiential and immersive nature of the various experiences, thus identifying the most immersive ones.
Joan Sibina is an architect specializing in communication architecture and set design. For over 50 years, he has combined his professional career with teaching at various universities, art direction, television program creation, and the conceptualization, design, and direction of experiential projects. He has received numerous awards, most notably three Gold and seven Bronze Laus Awards from the FAD (Spanish Foundation for the Promotion of Decorative Arts), two Bronze Awards from the BDA (Broadcasting Designers Association of the USA), a European Trophy from the EAD (European Art Directors Association of the EU), and the Gold Medal for the UEA Pavilion at the 2008 Zaragoza World Expo, among others. Notable works in the field of scenography include CosmoCaixa and the Olympic Museum of Barcelona, the Romanesque Church of Sant Climent de Taüll (a World Heritage Site), the Gaudí Centre in Reus, the MNACTEC in Terrassa, the Aquarium of Sant Sebastià, and the Basque Language House in Bilbao. Internationally, his works include the Sporting Lisbon Museum, the FC Porto Museum in Porto, and the Qatar Olympic Museum in Doha. In 2011, he published his first book, *Manual of the Mirror as a Museographic Resource*, within the collection of Manuals on Museology, Heritage, and Cultural Tourism. Three more books followed, dedicated to new ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies). However, the creation, direction, and teaching of the online international master's program at Esdesign Barcelona, "Design of Immersive Cultural Experiences," shortly before the pandemic, helped him publish the first book in the series on immersive experiences.
